Was woken up by my auntie, got dressed and went upstairs to find my mum still fussing with packing.
The drive to the airport was uneventful and we arrived in plenty of time. I had checked the flight status the day before and couldn’t find our flight number. It seems they’d changed both the flight number and the take off time to an hour or so earlier. As we’d arrived so early it wasn’t an issue and we were soon in the air after drinking a glass of juice in the airport cafe.
We arrived in Antigua and filled out the standard documents. I’ve filled in that many that I now know my passport number by heart! As we’d left Dominica early mum and I had even more time to kill before our transatlantic flight. We decided to go into St. John’s in search of some food.
We took the bus into town after a short walk around the outside of the Stanford Cricket Ground. Had a chicken curry roti and a malt for lunch and strolled around town for a while. There wasn’t much to do so we headed back to the airport.
Spent the rest of the time pre-check in chilling out and sending a few emails in the shade of tree just outside the terminal building. At the check in desk we were told that the flight was delayed by 40 minutes so once we’d checked in we had some more food in the Big Banana Bar.
The flight was further delayed but we were soon on our way to England, via Barbados. It was without doubt the most eventful flight I’ve ever been on.
